Weltrend Announces Availability of the WT6620F USB PD 3.1 Controller with DisplayPort Alternate Mode

Hsinchu, Taiwan, May 25, 2022 – Weltrend Semiconductor (TWSE: 2436) today announced the release of the WT6620F USB Power Delivery (USB PD) 3.1 controller with DisplayPortTM (DP) Alternate Mode (Alt-mode) support. |
The WT6620F is a highly integrated USB PD controller supporting USB PD 3.1 Standard Power Range (SPR) and Extended Power Range (EPR) (up to 36V) specifications with DisplayPort Alt-mode function. The chip is designed for audio/video related applications where DisplayPort Alt-mode over USB-C® is required. |
With the DisplayPort Alt mode over USB-C capability, it can perform the dynamic handshaking in between source and sink devices such as DP configuration, status update, source/sink connection detection, DP mode Discovery/Enter/Exit as well as supports of Vendor Defined Message (VDM) function and Hot-Plug Detection (HPD) for intelligent power delivery. |
The WT6620F is designed for USB -C power multimedia display applications such as projector, portable LCD monitor, PC monitor, LCD TV, tablet, and dockings. |
The WT6620F minimizes external components by integrating USB PD baseband PHY, USB -C detection, shunt regulator, voltage and current monitors, NMOS load switch driver and an 8-bit MCU to allow small form factor and low BOM cost. Wide operation voltage range (3.3V to 45V/55V) supports USB PD 3.1 SPR and EPR 36V specifications. A Multi-Time-Programmable (MTP) ROM is provided for program code and user configuration data. |
The WT6620F is available in a 16-pin QFN (4 mm x 4 mm) package. |
