Hsinchu, Taiwan, April 30, 2020 – Weltrend Semiconductor (TWSE: 2436) today announced the release of the WT7696, the world’s first fast charge interface controller that supports Qualcomm®’s Quick ChargeTM 3+ Technology. The WT7696 is under mass production with design-win at a global tier-one smartphone OEM.

The WT7696 is a fast charge interface controller that features Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3+ technology, the latest addition to the Quick Charge family. According to Qualcomm, Quick Charge 3+ focuses on bringing advanced fast charging at a lower price point. It provides fast charging and better efficiency with charging from 0% to 50% in 15 minutes, 35% faster and 9 degrees Celsius cooler comparing to previous generations.

The WT7696 integrates the circuits and control logics of High Voltage Dedicated Charging Port (HVDCP), Dedicated Charging Port (DCP), high voltage DP/DM pins with low impedance detection, FB pin, UVLO, VBUS voltage monitoring and maximum VBUS output voltage selection pin.

The WT7696 supports HVDCP Quick Charge 2.0/3.0/3+ technologies class A or class B, which could be configured by the status of maximum VBUS output voltage selection pin. It is suitable for USB based power charging applications such as travel adapters, car chargers, as well as power banks for mobile devices.

The WT7696 has successfully obtained certification from GRL certified by GRL for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3+ in March, 2020.
