Weltrend’s WT6633P Achieves Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 Certifications
Hsinchu, Taiwan, October 12, 2020 – Weltrend Semiconductor (TWSE: 2436) today announced that its USB Power Delivery (USB PD) controller chipset, WT6633P, which has previously been certified for Qualcomm® Quick ChargeTM 4 and Quick Charge 4+ technologies, passed the certification tests for Qualcomm Quick Charge 5. The WT6633P for Quick Charge 5 is currently in mass production for use in the world’s first Quick Charge 5 charger for a global leading smartphone OEM.
According to Qualcomm, Quick Charge 5 is the world’s first commercially viable fast charging platform to support more than 100W charging power in a smartphone. It is engineered to allow users to charge devices from 0 to 50 percent battery power in just five minutes – representing the fastest mobile phone charging capabilities available.
The WT6633P is a highly integrated USB PD controller that supports USB PD 3.0 Programmable Power Supply specification, Qualcomm Quick Charge 4, Quick Charge 4+, and Quick Charge 5 technologies. It is designed for USB Type-C® power source applications such as power adapters, wall chargers, car chargers, power strip, power bank, and etc.
The WT6633P minimizes external components by integrating USB PD baseband PHY, USB Type-C detection, shunt regulator, voltage and current monitors, NMOS or PMOS load switch driver and an 8-bit MCU to allow small form factor and low BOM cost. Wide operation voltage range (3V to 24V) supports USB PD 3.0 Programmable Power Supply (PPS) specification. One-Time-Programmable ROM is provided for program code and user configuration data.
The WT6633P is certified by USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) for USB Type-C PD (TID: 1070018) and by UL for Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ (Certificate Number: 4788566324-2) and Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 (Certificate Number: 4789627043-2).
