Hsinchu, Taiwan, November 18, 2020 – Weltrend Semiconductor (TWSE: 2436) today announced the release of the WT6619F Dual-port USB Power Delivery (USB PD) controller with DisplayPortTM (DP) Alt-mode.

The WT6619F is a dual-port USB PD controller that supports USB PD 3.0 specification. It can be configured as a dual-role device (external circuitry required) and supported functions including cable attached/detached detection, cable plug orientation/twist detection, and Dual-role Power (DRP) with source/sink power role swapping mechanism as well.

With the DisplayPort Alt-mode over USB-C capability, it can perform functions such as DP configure, status update, source/sink connection detection, DP mode Discovery/Enter/Exit, and support vendor define message (VDM) function/hot-plug detection (HPD) for intelligent USB Power Delivery as well. It is designed for USB Type-C® power applications such as Projector, portable LCD monitor, PC Monitor, TV, and Tablet.

The WT6619F minimizes external components by integrating USB PD baseband PHYs, USB Type-C detection, and an 8-bit MCU to allow flexibility, small form factor and low BOM cost. Wide operation voltage range (3V to 24V) supports high voltage CC pins to avoid the short circuit damage between Vbus and CC pins. That makes WT6619F having a robust and reliable design. A Multi-Programmable (MTP) ROM is built-in for storing program code and user configuration data.
