Weltrend Announces Availability of the WT8921 Image Processor for Smart Projector
Hsinchu, Taiwan, December 1, 2020 – Weltrend Semiconductor (TWSE: 2436) today announced the release of the WT8921 Image Processor for Smart Projector, industry’s first solution enabling intelligent self-adjustment for projectors.
The WT8921 is a high performance image processor which incorporates a 32-bit RISC CPU with DSP instruction set that operates up to 192 MHz and rich vision-processing-units/interfaces such as scaler, lens correction, image mask, and etc. The WT8921 provides a powerful Vision Acceleration Engine (VAE) to support video-out interface, UART, USB, and SPI for the projector system.
The WT8921 takes three dimensional data inputs from the ToF (Time-of-Flight) sensor and the G-sensor in a smart project system. With advanced algorithms inside, the WT8921 enables fast and intelligent self-adjustment of the projector, such as automatic keystone detection or automatic lens focusing, to center the image to fit the screen.
By integrating a ToF sensor, a G-sensor, and the WT8921 into a hardware module, it can speed up the smart projector system design cycle time and shorten the time-to-market.
The WT8921 is available in a QFN-64 (8 mm x 8 mm) package.
