Weltrend’s WT7070/WT7071 Wireless Power Controllers Achieve Qi Certification
Hsinchu, Taiwan, November 30, 2021 – Weltrend Semiconductor (TWSE: 2436) today announced that its wireless power controllers, WT7070 Wireless Power Controller and WT7071 Wireless Power Controller with Qualcomm® Quick ChargeTM, passed the tests defined in the Qi wireless power specification by Wireless Power Consortium (WPC).
Among the two controllers, the WT7071 is one of the world’s first Qi wireless power controllers that support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge technology. It is a highly integrated wireless power transmitter controller that is compliant to WPC v1.2.4 EPP specifications and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology. The chip is designed for wireless power charging pad applications.
“With Weltrend’s leadership in USB PD and Quick Charge controllers, we are extremely excited to extend our fast charging product portfolio from the wired world to the wireless world”, said Wayne Lo, Senior Director of Product Marketing at Weltrend. “We are honored to have continued our partnership with Qualcomm from wired quick charge to wireless quick charge and look forward to seeing the expansion of the Quick Charge ecosystem.”

The WT7071 minimizes external components by integrating the circuits of voltage regulators, Quick Charge 3.0 protocol interface, ASK demodulation, FSK modulation, foreign object detection (FOD), PWM, ADC, MOSFET drivers, current sense amplifier, and an 8-bit MCU to allow small form factor and low BOM cost.
Wide operation voltage range (4.25V to 21V) and a Multiple-Time-Programmable (MTP) non-volatile memory provide high reliability and allow flexible user configuration requirements.
The WT7070 and WT7071 are under pilot production and are available in a 40-pin QFN package.
