Hsinchu, Taiwan, May 25, 2022 – Weltrend Semiconductor (TWSE: 2436) today announced the release of the WT61F301 and WT61F401 USB-C®/DisplayPortTM (DP) to HDMI 2.0/VGA Converters with supports of USB Power Delivery (USB PD) 3.1 With these new products, Weltrend continued the expansion of its USB-C product portfolio from power transmission to audio/video transmission.

While the main audio/video transmission specification over the USB-C is DP, the audio/video interface for display products in the market today is mostly HDMI. This thus requires a DP-to-HDMI converter chip such as the WT61F301 and WT61F401 to convert the audio/video format from DP to HDMI.

The WT61F301 and WT61F401 accept DP input and convert the input video/audio stream into HDMI and VGA outputs. While the WT61F301 DP input port supports 1/2/4-lane DP receiving up-to 5.4 Gbps with HDCP 1.4/2.3 Decryption, only 2-lane is supported for WT61F401 due to sharing two-lane for connecting to the USB 3.x controller for application such as docking station. The HDMI output port supports HDMI 2.0 up-to 6 Gbps with HDCP 1.4/2.3 Encryption. The chips are compliant with Display Port 1.3 and HDCP 1.3/2.3 and HDMI 2.0 specifications, and on-chip HDCP Keys and EDID Memory is also supported.

The embedded MCU supports the HDMI CEC, DP Alternate Mode over USB-C, USB billboard, and USB PD handling in USB-C application, including DRP (Dual Role Power) with FRS (Fast Role Swap). An MUX is also integrated for lane swapping (WT61F301 only). The chip is suitable for TV, monitor, projector, docking, and dongle applications where DP-to-HDMI converter with USB-C port is required for successfully displaying the audio/video on the HDMI-interfaced display devices with 4K@60fps and, at the same time, power charging which supports up to 240W with USB PD 3.1.

The WT61F301 and WT61F401 are available in an 88-pin QFN (10 mm x 10 mm) and a 76-pin QFN (9 mm x 9 mm) package, respectively.
