STL6580

The STL6580 series is a BLDC fan controller with driver. It has advanced closed-loop control within ±5% variation of rotation speed. The built-in soft-switch and advanced timing control improve the motor efficiency and vibration. The STL6580 supports direct PWM input to eliminate the circuit for PWM to DC conversion and thus, external component counts can be reduced. Friendly programming interface can adjust any fan curve setting. The device provides adjustable PWM outputs frequency to support single-phase full-wave driving. The STL6580 has a soft-start feature with programmable incremental duty cycle to smooth-out the power-up spike on the coil current and thus, can reduce the start-up noise and relax the power budget. The built-in soft-switch function can reduce the acoustic noise and power loss. The device provides a current limiting function by internal reference voltages. The thermal shutdown function can protect the device from over-heat. The STL6580 supports lock detection and cease the output current automatically. Once the external load is relaxed, it will automatically recover to system-specified speed. Various open-drain output types, such as FG, RD, Stop RD, and Reverse RD, are implemented as the tachometer for system to monitor the speed of a DC fan with 4 or 8 magnetic poles.
